The director behind Margot Robbie’s career-defining performance in ‘I, Tonya’ and Emma Stone’s widely acclaimed and awarded rendition of the Disney villain ‘Cruella’, Craig Gillespie is now in talks to deliver another groundbreaking piece of cinema.
While it hasn’t been made official yet, he is rumored to be directing ‘Supergirl’ for Warner Bros’ DC Studios! The plan is for DC to shoot the movie after the completion of James Gunn’s Superman, which is shooting for a July 11, 2025 theatrical release.
What has already been made official though is that House of the Dragon‘s star Milly Alcock will be appearing in another DC project before making her big-screen debut as Supergirl: the Angel of the Sky. Based on Tom King’s 2022 comic book series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’, the character of Supergirl has quickly become a fan-favorite.
The upcoming film will portray her as a heroic character we’re not exactly used to seeing. It will highlight her violent upbringing and how she watched everyone around her be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life. The feature will then follow her journey as comes to Earth as a young girl.
Good different or not, Gillespie’s ‘Supergirl’ will be a sight for the sore eyes of film fanatics and comic buffs!
