As if it wasn’t enough to keep audiences waiting for days, months, and years, directors have now adopted a new means of teasing upcoming projects. These teasers, a major deviation from snippets of the project itself, often come in the form of dates and the promise of big announcements.
While many buy straight into these announcements, numerous fans express distaste and even label them as ‘excitement bait’. Steven Spielberg, one of the biggest names in Hollywood history, recently announced his new project, slated for a 2026 release. However, no further details about the project were disclosed. Only through prior statements was it pieced together that the feature will be related to UFOs.
This received mix reactions from fans. While numerous erupted at the prospect of an upcoming Spielberg project, many were skeptical that it might not live up to the hype it garners until its release date. American filmmaker, visual artist, and musician David Lynch’s cryptic post about an upcoming venture to be released on June 5 was met with the same fate.
Renowned for big titles like ‘Eraserhead’, ‘Twin Peaks’, ‘Blue Velvet’, and more, Lynch is famous for his surrealistic storytelling methods. He left fans divided with this statement as numerous were left looking forward either to a music video or a feature announcement.
Many also urged fellow fans to not get too excited as the announcement may not live up to its hype. While publicity is often not classified as either good or bad, announcements of this sort have not yet been classified either!
