One more Sherlock series, that too by CW, does sound a bit promising, but it will miss the essence, the spirit of the original Sherlock Holmes.
Based on the writings of Arthur Conan Doyle, the world’s greatest detective will soon come to the television screens, but there is a catch. Titled as “Sherlock & Daughter,” the new CW series will tell the tale of Amelia and Sherlock, as the former believes that Sherlock is her father.
The series will also feature the arch-nemesis of Sherlock, Professor Moriarty, played by Dougray Scott. Speaking of actors, Sherlock will be played by David Thewlis, the former Harry Potter star, and Blu Hunt will portray Amelia.
Now comes the question, why not another regular Sherlock adaptation?
Practically, most people have seen that side of Sherlock, and thanks to Netflix, “Enola Holmes” managed to gain some major traction over the years, depicting a different side of Sherlock, thanks to Cavill.
An adaptation like this does break the monotony, at least for a character like Sherlock who has been milked numerous times, being the second most adapted literary character after Dracula. Even from the same universe, CBS is making its own adaptation of Watson, who was always kept under the shadow of Sherlock.
