Dahaad, you might have heard recently about this series. The reason? It is the first Indian series to have been premiered at the Berlinale International Series competition.
The series stars Sonakshi Sinha along with Vijay Varma, Gulshan Devaiah, and Sohum Shah.
It is produced by Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby.
Ahead of its Berlinale premiere, Vijay Varma has opened up about the premise of the series.
Dahaad’ is about the investigation of a series of crimes conducted by a police officer at a police station in a small town in Rajasthan. Too many girls are getting lost in the town but the young police officer believes that there is a pattern in the disappearance of those girls. Being a female officer and that too in a highly male dominated environment naturally makes it difficult for the officer to prove herself.
Regardless, the noir-ish and dark setting of the series helps in exactly that. Varma plays a literature teacher who seems ordinary but has a mysterious secret about himself.
The series was announced by Prime Video in their event but there hasn’t been any announcement about the release date of the series. Since the making of the show has been long done, Prime Video may release it as soon as they move over the Farzi fever.
