A couple of months back, it was announced that a sequel to the 2021 blockbuster monster movie ‘Godzilla vs Kong’ was to kick off filming later this year in Queensland, Australia. Things seem to be further moving forward as the much-anticipated MonsterVerse film has got its lead actor now. The London-born actor Dan Stevens has reportedly (via Deadline) been cast in the lead role for the upcoming sequel, tentatively titled ‘Godzilla vs. Kong 2’.
Adam Wingard, who had helmed the 2021 film ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’, will direct the sequel as well. Previously, the filmmaker had collaborated with Dan Stevens in the critically acclaimed 2014 action thriller movie ‘The Guest’. And now, we are hoping that the actor-director duo will recreate the same magic with the upcoming ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ sequel.
The ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ sequel will be the fifth MonsterVerse, a franchise that started with the 2014 reboot movie ‘Godzilla’, followed by ‘Kong: Skull Island’ (2017), ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ (2019), and ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ (2021). However, nothing much is currently known about the precise plot details for the sequel.
Dan Stevens, who was last seen in television series such as ‘Gaslit’ and ‘Immigrant’, first came into the international limelight with the period drama show ‘Downton Abbey’. His other popular roles include ‘Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb’, ‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘Apostle’, and ‘Legion’, to name a few.
Earlier this year, it was also announced that a live-action MonsterVerse show is being developed at Apple TV Plus which will feature Godzilla along with other Titans. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on the ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ sequel. Meanwhile, you can stream the 2021 film ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ in India on the Amazon Prime Video OTT platform.
