Kingpin actor Vincent D’Onofrio has given a positive update about the production status of the upcoming Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again. Marvel Studios buried the first six episodes filmed under the creative direction of Matt Corman and Chris Ord as they were not happy with their episodes, resulting in the show’s creative overhaul in 2023. Now, it seems like Born Again is slowly getting back on track.
Vincent D’Onofrio recently talked about Daredevil: Born Again in an interview with Comic Book. He shared some interesting details about the project’s current status:
“We’re days away from restarting Daredevil, so that’s we’re about to plunge into a lot of work. We’re shooting in New York, in the studio and locations here. Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Chelsea. Stuff like that.”
The decision to restart Born Again’s production could push the show’s release date further. Earlier, it was expected to come out this year. However, the Hollywood strikes, accompanied by its creative overhaul, resulted in delaying its production. It means there is a chance that we may get the series in 2025.
Marvel Studios should not ignore all the ideas that were presented by Ord and Corman for Born Again. For instance, bringing back Jon Bernthal’s Punisher is still a great idea. MCU has officially stepped into the Rated-R territory with the Echo Disney+ series. This gives Marvel Studios a great chance to integrate The Punisher into the MCU.
Elden Henson’s Foggy Nelson and Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page were reportedly killed off in Ord and Corman’s script for Daredevil: Born Again, a decision that met with immense backlash from fans. Now, both these prominent characters are a part of the show, which will be beneficial for the show’s storyline, considering its long episode length (18). This scenario not only supports Daredevil’s character arc in the show but also gives a chance to Henson and Woll to solidify their presence in the MCU. Stay tuned for more updates.
