Normally, dual release bombs any film. We saw that in the case of Bheemla Nayak which failed to do anything appreciable on Disney+Hotstar. But there are some exceptions too, just like Ranveer Singh’s 83 which dropped on both Disney+Hotstar and Netflix.
Despite that, it garnered immensely appreciable views. Dasvi falls into a similar category. It was released on both Netflix and Jio Cinema just like Mimi which was yet again a Maddock Films venture.
Unfortunately, we don’t get official viewership data from Jio Cinema the way we get from Netflix. So let’s talk about how Dasvi is performing on Netflix.
Abhishek Bachchan’s latest is unstoppable on Netflix. Jio Cinema unlike Netflix is free to stream for Jio Subscribers yet again it has barely any effect. We may safely assume that Jio Cinema would have contributed significantly to total views, so the total viewing hours of the film have to be bonkers for the film.
So much so that for the past two weeks Dasvi is maintaining its position in Global viewership charts. In its debut week, Dasvi was in the fourth position of Global non-English films on Netflix. So it was in 6th position last week.
This is ample proof that Abhishek Bachchan’s Dasvi is a highly celebrated film despite cliched social comedy elements in it.
