Other third-party analysis is fine but if the data comes straight from the streaming platforms then it is even better. Just today, Zee5 Global released data saying that people want to watch more real or let’s say reality-inspired content.
By real content, we mean films and series that are directly adapted from any real incident. Reality inspired content means a kind of content which is realistic. It may not have a real source but it is no fantasy either.
The data says that Sam Bahadur on Zee5 is the most-watched title of 2024 so far, irrespective of any genre. The popularity is such that these contents enjoy 20% of the platform’s total viewership.
Similarly, biopics like “Swatantrya Veer Savarkar” and “Main Atal Hoon,” garnered highly favourable numbers on the platform.
Even if you see other platforms then documentaries and reality inspired titles are highly in demand because they reflect a lot about society instead of providing an escape through fantastical films and series.
However, this trend is being observed mostly in the Hindi speaking belts as the South Indian masses are busy with their usual theatrical films.
This is a really interesting fact and a clear indication that more and more such films and series will continue to be in production not only by Zee5 but by most other platforms.
