Netflix has made a documentary series on global football star David Beckham and its set to premiere exclusively on Netflix early next month. ‘Beckham’ is helmed by Academy Award winning director Fisher Stevens (‘Palmer’, ‘And We Go Green’, ‘The Cove’) and Academy Award and Emmy Award winning producer John Battsek (‘One Day in September, Searching for Sugar Man, Winter on Fire)
The definitive four-part series will go beyond the shine of stardom to explore Beckham’s humble working class beginnings in East London, and the drive and determination that led him to become one of the most recognisable and scrutinised athletes of all time.
It will feature a mixture of never-before-seen personal archive footage from the last forty years and interviews with David Beckham, his family and friends, and key figures who have been part of his journey both on and off the pitch. These include Victoria Beckham, Gary Neville, Eric Cantona, Sir Alex Ferguson, Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes, Roy Keane, Mel C (aka Sporty Spice), Diego Simeone, Carlos Queiroz, Luís Figo, Míchel Salgado, Florentino Pérez, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldo Nazário and Fabio Capello, and David’s mother and father.
‘Beckham’ will launch on Netflix on 4th October, 2023.
