David Fincher Brings ‘Voir’ On Netflix, A Series Celebrating Cinema

On Tuesday, Netflix’s social media handles teased about something special coming up from master filmmaker David Fincher on the platform. Excited fans hoped it would be a new season of David Fincher‘s acclaimed Netflix crime investigation series, ‘Mindhunter’. However, on Wednesday, Netflix revealed what it was all about. David Fincher is bringing an interesting and very different project to Netflix, titled ‘Voir’.

‘Voir’ is an anthology series of visual essays celebrating cinema. For those who don’t know, ‘Voir’ is a French word meaning ‘to see’ or ‘to behold’. Well, looks like David Fincher wants us to behold the nuances of cinema in his new documentary series. David Fincher is executive producing ‘Voir’, along with ‘The Empty Man’ director David Prior.

Precious litte is known about the new project, save for an update from one of its writers, Drew McWeeny, in his newsletter. McWeeny wrote that the series is “not like any other show about movies that you’ve seen”. ‘Voir’ is apparently a series of 10 to 30-minute essays about “something that intrigues us or upsets us or that has to do with our connection to the movies.”

‘Voir’ will first premiere at the AFI Fest in Los Angeles in November. It will then premiere on Netflix on an as-yet undisclosed date. The project has been in the works for three years.

We at Binged had earlier informed our readers of the exclusive four-film deal that David Fincher has signed with Netflix. ‘Voir’ will most likely be a part of that deal. We had also informed our readers of Fincher directing assassin thriller film ‘The Killer’ for Netflix, starring Michael Fassbender and Tilda Swinton. David Fincher earlier created Netflix’s first ever original series, ‘House Of Cards’, crime investigation thriller ‘Mindhunter’ and Oscar-winner ‘Mank’ for Netflix, besides executive producing a few other projects.
