Some time back, we had made our readers aware that Steven Spielberg had found his next directorial project after ‘West Side Story’ and that it would be loosely based on his growing-up days in Arizona. Steven Spielberg is not only be directing the film, but it would also mark his screenwriting comeback (post ‘A.I. Artificial Intelligence’) after more than two decades. Yes, we are talking about Spielberg’s forthcoming semi-biographical film titled ‘The Fabelmans’.
And now, another renowned filmmaker David Lynch has reportedly (via Variety) joined the cast of Steven Spielberg’s ‘The Fabelmans’. Although the precise description of his role is not yet confirmed. In doing that, David Lynch has joined other cast members including Michelle Williams, who would essay the role inspired by the filmmaker’s mother. Further, Seth Rogen is ostensibly playing the role of the filmmaker’s favorite uncle. And Gabriel LaBelle would be playing a younger version of legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg.
The multi-talented and three times Academy award-nominated veteran director David Lynch is well known globally in the film circuit for making movies such as the ‘Eraserhead’, 1984 version of sci-fi epic film ‘Dune’, mystery thriller ‘Blue Velvet’, ‘Twin Peaks’ series, 1997 neo-noir film ‘Lost Highway’ and ‘Mulholland Drive’, to name a few.
Besides his notable work behind the camera, David Lynch has also showcased his acting chops in ‘Twin Peaks’ TV series along with other sporadic on-screen appearances. However, this is the first time the 76-year-old filmmaker would be collaborating with Steven Spielberg for the latter’s directorial feature film project.
Steven Spielberg’s ‘The Fabelmans’ is set for a theatrical release later this year on 23rd November 2022. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on the eagerly anticipated film.
