‘Day Shift’: Trailer, Release Date, Streaming Platform, Cast, Plot

Netflix has dropped the trailer of its upcoming action flick ‘Day Shift’ and it’s one bloody vampire hunting drama. Helmed by first time filmmaker J.J. Perry, ‘Day Shift’ will premiere only on Netflix on 12th August, 2022.

Set in Los Angeles, the trailer shows how a Bud (Jamie Foxx), who works as a pool cleaner for the world but in actual is vampire hunter who hunts these monsters to make some good money. The first few scenes itself reveal how he breaks vampire necks and extracts their fangs for cash.

He does all this to pay the bills and this time he needs to a lot more money, $10k to be exact, in just a week to stop his wife and daughter from moving away from him to Florida. For this he now needs to rejoin the international Union of vampire hunters of which he was kicked out.

Knowing that it’s only the union that can get him that much money in a limited time he somehow manages to get in with some help. Accompanying Bud on this deadly mission is Dave Franco who quite literally pisses himself on his first encounter with a vampire and is also seen defending the honor of ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2’.

The action packed, neck-snapping, bloodletting gunplay filled ‘Day Shift’ trailer also gives the viewers a glimpse of Snoop Dogg playing the role of what can be called a cowboy vampire hunter.

As per the official synopsis, ‘Day Shift’ on Netflix is the story of a hard working blue collar dad who just wants to provide a good life for his quick-witted daughter, but his mundane San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job is a front for his real source of income, hunting and killing vampires as part of an international Union of vampire hunters.

In addition to Jamie Foxx, Dave Francis and Snopp Dogg, ‘Day Shift’ also stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo (‘The Voyeurs’, ‘The Society’) Oliver Masucci (‘Dark’, ‘Enfant Terrible’), Steve Howey (‘Shameless’) and C.S. Lee (‘Dexter’, ‘Nora From Queens’).

‘Day Shift’ marks the directorial debut of J.J. Perry, who’s served as a stunt coordinator and/or second unit director on films like ‘F9: The Fast Saga’, ‘Bloodshot’ and ‘John Wick: Chapter 2’. The film is written by Tyler Tice and Shay Hatten (‘Army of the Dead’, ‘John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum’).

Chad Stahelski (John Wick Franchise) and Jason Spitz for 87Eleven Entertainment; Shaun Redick (‘Get Out’, ‘BlackKklansman’) and Yvette Yates Redick (‘Malicious’) for Impossible Dream Entertainment have produced ‘Day Shift’ for Netflix. Jamie Foxx, Datari Turner and Peter Baxter serve as the executive producers for the film. ‘Day Shift’ will premiere exclusively on Netflix on 12th August, 2022.
