The highly anticipated DC TV series, ‘Peacemaker’ will premiere on HBOMax around the globe (wherever it will be available for streaming) by the beginning of next year and it has released its official teaser a few hours ago. ‘The Suicide Squad’ spin-off web series was also created by the writer-director of the same film, James Gunn – who has provided the script for this show as well. Check out this funny one-minute teaser trailer, which was released on the official YouTube channel of HBOMax, at the end of this article.
The one-minute teaser gives us more of the scene featured from a previous HBOMax teaser. Peacemaker turns up to meet his new team which was set up by Amanda Waller. However, unlike the usual rag-tag group of assassins and super-villains, his new team is filled with “normal people”, who find Peacemaker’s costume (*ahem* Uniform) to be quite funny. They are also weirded out by Peacemaker when he brings his eagle, Eagley, to the diner (which is where they meet) and leaves the “pet bird” in his car.
The series will be set after the events of aforementioned movie, The Suicide Squad, which will give us insights into the origins of the titular “anti-hero/villain”. John Cena will star as the previously mentioned titular Peacemaker, with Steve Agee, Danielle Brooks, Robert Patrick, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma and Chukwudi Iwuji rounding up the rest of the cast. James Gunn is also expected to direct most of the eight episodes on the show – including its pilot and season finale. James Gunn, Peter Safran and Matt Miller will serve as executive producers of the show.
HBOMax has been rumored to release in India soon, so there is a good chance we might see the web series premiere on its original streaming platform before its release date, three months from now. However, if that doesn’t happen for some reason, we are fairly confident that the web series will be released on either Disney+ Hotstar or Netflix for the Indian audience, as it has been doing time and time again. For now, we will have to wait and see.
The DC Web series, Peacemaker will premiere on HBOMax, starting from January 2022.
