DC’s Black Adam May Uproot These Bollywood Flicks On Diwali 2022

DCEU’s Black Adam will release theatrically in the United States on October 21. And it will come out a day earlier than its domestic release in several countries including India. It means that Indian superhero lovers (or should we say antihero lovers?) can watch the film on October 20. Also, it has Dwayne Johnson as the leading man. He is one of the most prominent Hollywood actors in India and has a massive fanbase in the country. His name is enough to attract a large number of viewers towards theatres. That’s why it can give pretty stiff competition to Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu and Ajay Devgn’s Thank God during the 2022 Diwali season.

Black Adam’s bookings opened on Saturday. As of Tuesday, the film has sold nearly 35,000 tickets in all three national chains: Cinepolis, INOX, and PVR, in India. Plus, the 4D and the IMAX versions have received a good response as well. Although, the response towards the 2D version is okay-ish.

Furthermore, many box office insiders have revealed that the film will release on 1800 to 2000 screens across the country. All these factors, combined with Johnson’s stardom and pre-Diwali release, can negatively affect Ram Setu’s and Thank God’s collections.

Although, Kumar’s Sooryavanshi had a Diwali release last year and grossed more than 290 crores. Despite receiving a mixed critical response, the film performed phenomenally amidst the 50 per cent theatrical occupancy due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of Devgn’s comedies like the Golmaal series, All The Best, and many more have also done well during festive seasons. So, we can expect Ram Setu and Thank God to collect good figures, considering the theatrical restrictions are no longer active.

Still, we cannot ignore Black Adam. Early reviews have declared the film a thrilling action-packed spectacle. Johnson’s representation of the beloved DC antihero and Pierce Brosnan’s Doctor Fate have received special praise. Furthermore, the film may perform outstandingly well due to a lack of competition. After October 25, we will witness a reduction in show count due to the releases of Thank God and Ram Setu.

The hype revolving around Black Adam is gigantic. Some fan theories have speculated that viewers may see Henry Cavill returning as Superman in the film’s post-credits. If the DCEU entry manages to win the hearts of Indian viewers, then it may uproot Ram Setu and Thank God during this year’s Diwali season. Stay tuned for more updates.
