Frank Grillo has joined the cast of DCU’s Peacemaker Season 2. He will play Rick Flag Sr., the father of Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flag, in the sophomore entry. James Gunn made the announcement on Threads.
John Cena’s Peacemaker killed Rick Flag Jr. in Gunn’s The Suicide Squad (2021) after following Amanda Waller’s orders. However, this scenario left a huge impact on Peacemaker. One episode from his spinoff show also showed his struggle in coping with Flag’s death.
Gunn will write all eight episodes of Peacemaker Season 2 and helm three of them. He will start working on the show after completing the filming for his Superman movie, which stars David Corenswet as the Man of Steel.
Frank Grillo will also voice Rick Flag Sr. in the upcoming Creature Commandos animated series, which already has Sean Gunn and David Harbour in its cast. The show will revolve around a black ops team of monsters that works for Waller. Creature Commandos will officially kick off DCU’s first chapter, Gods and Monsters.
Peacemaker Season 2 will also bring back John Cena as the titular character. He will also serve as one of the show’s executive producers, along with James Gunn and Peter Safran. No release date has been revealed yet. Stay tuned for more updates.
