Multiple Hollywood projects were indefinitely delayed because of the long-standing SAG-AFTRA strike which have ended now. And some of the big-ticket Marvel movies were no exception. The stakeholders have now adjusted their release dates as per the revised production schedules.
A couple of months back, ‘Deadpool 3’ director Shawn Levy revealed that the production for the highly anticipated movie starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman was halted because of the strikes. And that it was halfway through its filming schedule. As per the latest update, Disney has slightly delayed the ‘Deadpool’ threequel, and it will now be released on 26th July 2024 instead of 3rd May.
As per Disney’s theatrical release dates shuffle, the ‘Captain America’ sequel ‘Captain America: New World Order’ has set a new release date of 14th February 2025. Besides Anthony Mackie in the lead role of Sam Wilson aka Captain America, ‘Captain America: New World Order’ also features veteran actor Harrison Ford, who will be playing the role of Thunderbolt Ross and the US President.
With a relatively smaller screen time in ‘Captain America: New World Order’, Harrison Ford will appear in a more substantial role in the subsequent Phase-5 MCU film ‘Thunderbolts’, which will now be released a few months later on 25th July 2025. The basic plot of ‘Thunderbolts’ ostensibly focuses on the team of anti-heroes / reformed supervillains, who are teamed up and sent on various missions.
Moreover, another Marvel movie – the ‘Blade’ reboot starring two times Academy Award-winning actor Mahershala Ali has also been postponed. The superhero film is set for its theatrical release on 7th November 2025. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on the release dates and production status of upcoming Marvel movies.
