The new teaser for Deadpool & Wolverine has unveiled the first look of one of the most popular characters in the X-Men lore, Sabretooth.
The latest teaser hints at an epic showdown between Wolverine and Sabretooth. While rumors suggested Liev Schreiber would reprise the role from X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), the clip reveals Tyler Mane returning as Sabretooth. Mane previously portrayed this brutal and sadistic villain in the original X-Men movie (2000).
With Tyler Mane back as Sabretooth for Deadpool & Wolverine, we should not ignore the possibility of other X-Men (2000) stars making cameo appearances. These include Halle Berry (Storm), Famke Janssen (Jean Grey), Anna Paquin (Rogue), James Marsden (Cyclops), and more.
It’s unclear how big of a role Mane’s Sabretooth will play in the upcoming Deadpool movie. However, his addition could add an interesting spin to the film’s plot.
Sabretooth (Victor Creed), originally introduced as a brutal serial killer named “the Slasher” in Iron Fist #14 (1977) by Chris Claremont and John Byrne, later became a prominent X-Men villain in the 1986 “Mutant Massacre” event. This established him as Wolverine’s ultimate rival, a position he’s held ever since.
In the comics, Wolverine and Sabretooth were a part of the Weapon X super-soldier program. There, Sabretooth fueled Logan’s descent into animalistic rage, wreaking havoc on his life ever since.
