Deadpool & Wolverine Trailer: Decoding The Stand-Out Moments

Deadpool & Wolverine Trailer: Decoding The Stand-Out Moments

Marvel has dropped the official trailer of Deadpool & Wolverine, starring Ryan Reynolds as the ‘Merc with a Mouth’ and Hugh Jackman as the iconic adamantium claw-bearer. The latest clip doesn’t reveal too much but offers enough teases to send Marvel fans jumping for joy.

Since its official announcement, Deadpool & Wolverine has generated tons of excitement among fans. While its teaser focused more on the former’s backstory and his involvement with the TVA, the latest trailer brings Wolverine’s side of the story to light. Here are some of the moments that truly stood out in the trailer!

Wolverine lets down everyone in his universe

We see Wade Wilson asking for Wolverine’s help in the newest clip. However, the latter tells Deadpool to f*ck himself. We also hear Wolverine saying that saving Deadpool’s universe is not his problem, to which Wade replies, “Is that what you said when your world went to s***?”

Soon, we see Wolverine lying on the floor, with Matthew Macfadyen’s TVA character explaining to Deadpool that this Wolverine failed his world. It means the Wolverine we have witnessed in the latest trailer is different from the one in Fox’s X-Men universe. James Howlett from Fox’s X-Men universe died in James Mangold’s Logan (2017).

The version of Wolverine we saw in the latest trailer clearly belongs to a different timeline. In his timeline, something terrible happened, which forced him to start heavily drinking and not give a damn about what others think or say about him.

Cassandra Nova is the main villain

Rumours about Cassandra Nova being the primary adversary in Deadpool & Wolverine have been swirling around since Emma Corrin joined the film’s cast in February 2023. The latest trailer confirms that Corrin’s Nova is indeed the main villain. She defeats Wolverine with her telekinetic powers, which look similar to Charles Xavier’s abilities. We shouldn’t be surprised as Nova is Xavier’s evil twin in the comics. It’ll be fascinating to see if Charles himself makes an appearance in some form throughout the film.

Dogpool has arrived

Did you see a dog licking Wade’s face in the latest Deadpool & Wolverine trailer? Yup, he was Dogpool, a variant of Deadpool from the comics. In fact, other members of The Deadpool Corps, including Kid Deadpool, Lady Deadpool, and more are rumoured to appear in the forthcoming MCU project.

Wait! We have a Sorcerer too!

The trailer’s final shot shows Deadpool and Wolverine jumping into a portal, which seems to be created by a sorcerer from the MCU. It means we could witness a cameo appearance from Doctor Strange or Wong in the film. Or we could witness a new sorcerer who agrees to aid both protagonists.

We’re hiring!

We are hiring two full-time junior to mid-level writers with the option to work remotely. You need to work a 5-hour shift and be available to write. Interested candidates should email their sample articles to [email protected]. Applications without a sample article will not be considered.
