A film is coming for those who feel less important, less popular and most importantly, alone. Yes, the trailer of Dear Evan Hansen asks some very important questions concerning teenage life.
The trailer of Dear Evan Hansen just released and we must say, the trailer is really one of a kind! It’s an adoption of a 2015 award winning stage musical by American songwriter duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. The story revolves around a teenager named Evan Hansen who suffers from social anxiety disorder. His only friend Connor steals a letter written by Evan for himself, and in turn of events Connor commits suicide. Connor’s parents find out the letter and mistakenly believe that it was Connor who wrote this letter for his only friend Evan. Even falls into a painful mental state and tries to find himself through that letter and Connor’s memory. The musical has its origins in an incident that took place during Benj Pasek’s high school years at Friends’ Central School, Pennsylvania.
Dear Evan Hansen has an ensemble cast featuring Ben Platt as Evan Hansen, who will reprise his role from the original musical and Colton Ryan as Connor along with Julienne Moore, Amy Adams, Kaitlyn Dever, Nik Dodani and Danny Pino. Stephen Chbosky was hired as the director by Universal Pictures who purchased the film rights to the musical in November 2018. Father of Ben Platt, Marc Platt alongside Adam Siegel would serve as producers. The musical’s composers Pasek & Paul, would serve as executive producers alongside Steven Levenson who is also set to write the screenplay for the film.
The film had delayed in production in numerous occasions due to the Covid-19 pandemic but now the film is finally scheduled to be released theatrically on September 24, 2021 and this could be an extremely challenging job for the makers to replicate the success of the musical because it has already established it’s name by winning 6 out of 9 nominations in 71sr Tony Awards due to his fantastic present and strong message towards the less fortunate teenagers.
