After a blockbuster Season 4 and its intriguing ending, the excitement among the fans for the fifth and final season of ‘Stranger Things’ is off the roof. However, it seems that we have to be the bearer of the bad news to you this time. As per reports, the fans would have to wait at least ONE YEAR to watch the next season of the Netflix original series, with the series expected to be released, at the earliest, in 2024.
It was in a recent talk that David Harbour, the much-loved Jim Hopper of the series, indirectly indicated the release of the next season. According to him, the shooting of the upcoming season is set to start in 2023. Since the project is a very VFX-heavy one, its post-production is set to take more time than other movies. And as per reports, the main reason for such long post-production would be the backlog in the VFX industry in general, despite them working at full operating capacity.
The VFX artists are said to be some of the most hardworking artists in the industry. The work they do is very time-consuming as well, to get the right quality. Most of the biggies set to release in the upcoming months are all VFX-heavy visual spectacles, some of them being:
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
The Flash
Shazam! Fury of the Gods
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
The Little Mermaid
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts
Dune: Part Two
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
Do we need to go on? With almost all of them announced long back and in post-production for a long time with even reshoots happening for some, it is no surprise that the VFX industry has a lot of backlogs to take care of. However, ‘Stranger Things’ is one of those projects that are really worth the wait. And it’s better that we get the season a few months late than an earlier released undercooked season that would end up ruining the good memories we’ve had with the series.
