Netflix India is bringing a lot of series these days. Yes, a lot of them. In the earlier part of the year, their consistency was 1 series per month which could be okayish had they been of good quality but it ain’t true. They were below-average series and even their frequency was not that great.
But now, the dynamics are changed. Within the month of August and September, we are getting 5 enormous series.
The first one was 11th of August released Indian Matchmaking Season 2 which is cringeworthy, pathetic, and doesn’t even deserve to be talked about. It is one of the most torturous shows you can watch on the web and it is best to stay away from that.
The second is Delhi Crime Season 2. Its first season won an International Emmy Award and it is a phenomenal show. Shefali Shah, Rajesh Tailang, and Rasika Duggal hold the reign of the show and it is highly promising. It is undoubtedly one of the finest series ever made in India.
The third is Fabulous Lives Of Bollywood Wives. One must stay away from it as far as one can. This is a poisonous show featuring four women who are just living a luxurious lifestyle on their husband’s money. The name “Bollywood Wives” says all and this show is nothing but an embarrassment to the Indian OTT. It’s coming on 2nd September.
The third is “Indian Predator The Diary Of A Serial Killer”. This crime documentary is the second season of “Indian Predator” which was released just in the month of July. Netflix is undoubtedly the uncrowned prince when it comes to making crime documentaries. Although Indian docu-series are not of International standards Netflix is not the one to be blamed here. Indian authorities hardly archive any data and interviews still they are making good series. So thumbs up for them and we hope they continue to bring more such series. It will release on 7th September.
The last in the series is Jamtara Season 2 which was an average series. It wasn’t too bad but at the same time, offered a little to appreciate about. It will stream on 23rd September.
So the Netflix series slate is packed very intelligently so that they hide the cringe amongst good and promising shows. A mere 5-day window to Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives before Indian Predator is a great example of the same.
But as a platform, they need to work on marketing. There is nothing much wrong with it.
