National Award-winning filmmaker Sudhanshu Saria, who was recently in the news for the poster of the Alt Balaji show ‘His Storyy’ allegedly being similar to that of his 2015 film ‘Loev’, has reportedly been roped in as one of the writers for a probable third season of the highly acclaimed television show ‘Delhi Crime’. The talented Darjeeling-born filmmaker has already written and directed three shorts and a full-length feature film.
A few days back, Netflix had unveiled its 2021 release slate of original contents, which included the second season of ‘Delhi Crime’. However, the release date for the forthcoming season is not yet revealed.
The opening season of ‘Delhi Crime’ mainly revolved around the police investigation to nab the culprits responsible for the despicable gang rape that happened in the city. The show covered the period of six days from the unfortunate incident until the day of the final arrest.
Written and directed by Canadian filmmaker Richie Mehta, the Netflix show featured proficient actors like Shefali Shah (Satya, Dil Dhadakne Do, Monsoon Wedding), Rajesh Tailang (Mirzapur, Selection Day), Rasika Dugal (Mirzapur, Out of Love) and Adil Hussain (English Vinglish, Agent Vinod). ‘Delhi Crime’ became the first Indian television show to win an International Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series.
It is noteworthy that filmmaker Richie Mehta had previously directed films including ‘Amal’ (2007), ‘Siddhartha’ (2013) and the documentary film ‘India in a Day’, which was executive produced by Ridley Scott and Anurag Kashyap. While the second season of the crime series will reportedly retain the same cast but will feature a different crime story.
