Two-time Academy Award-winning veteran Hollywood actor Denzel Washington is basking in all the glory of the widespread critical acclaim of his last film – Joel Coen’s directorial ‘The Tragedy Macbeth’ co-starring Frances McDormand. The film witnessed a limited theatrical release last month and will start streaming on Apple TV Plus from 14th January onwards.
Regarding his next acting project, Denzel Washington himself has confirmed (via Collider) that he is all geared up to work on a sequel to the 2014 vigilante action film ‘The Equalizer’ and its follow-up movie ‘The Equalizer 2’ (2018). Both films were helmed by Antione Fuqua. About ‘The Equalizer 3’, Denzel Washington had stated that:
“They have written the third Equalizer, so I’m scheduled to do that. So I gotta get in shape and start beating people up again. I get to beat people up again. The tragedy of Macbeth and then going and beating some people up. Can’t get any better, right?”
‘The Equalizer’ (2014) featured Denzel Washington as a highly trained and retired U.S Marine Robert McCall, who decides to spring back into action and uses his very particular set of skills in order to avenge the brutal beating of a young girl by a dangerous Russian gang and to set her free from the ruthless gang.
In ‘The Equalizer 2’ (2018), Denzel Washington reprises his role as the highly-trained former CIA Black Ops turned vigilante who makes it his mission to avenge the death of his close friend. ‘Narcos’ and ‘Game of Thrones’ actor Pedro Pascal had played an important role in the movie.
Before ‘Equalizer 3’ arrives, we recommend you watch both the Equalizer movies for Denzel Washington’s beautifully restrained performance and the execution. They are a treat to watch particularly for action thriller movie aficionados. Both ‘The Equalizer’ and ‘The Equalizer 2’ are currently streaming in India on the Netflix OTT platform.
