Normally controversy is the key to success. Having a controversial film or series naturally raises the excitement of people to watch it. This desperation naturally causes the title to gain more views and then comes success.
Regardless, this does not happen all the time and it may hurt the makers. But, it is what it is.
Tribhuvan Mishra CA Topper was unnecessarily dragged into controversy as the CAs of India thought that the series apparently demeaned their profession. For this, they even took legal action but it was too weak a case and the release of the series was pretty much smooth.
The series stars Manav Kaul, Tillotama Shome and Subhrajyoti Barat in the lead roles.
The 9 episode series was the most-watched series in India last week but it couldn’t make it even to the Top 10 most-watched non-English series globally.
Of course, we can’t expect every series to be as grand as Heeramandi or Kota Factory in terms of reception but at least they should appear in the global Top 10 if India is one of the fastest-growing markets for Netflix.
Regardless, the content probably failed to impress or let’s say tempt the audience and that’s why we are seeing this underwhelming response.
