In almost every single one of Netflix’s comment sections, one consistent presence is questions regarding the renewal of ‘Warrior Nun’. Despite the series’ second season being released on November 10th, no news of renewal had gotten fans worried. And now, the fear has come true. Despite massive demand from the fans, Netflix has cancelled the series after two seasons.
A fantasy drama, ‘Warrior Nun’ revolves around the story of Ava, a 19-year-old woman who wakes up in a morgue with a divine artefact embedded in her back. She then discovers she is now part of an ancient order that has been tasked with fighting demons on Earth, and that powerful forces representing both heaven and hell want to find and control her. Her exploits as she comes to terms with her new life form the premise of the series.
Frequently described as one of the most underrated series on Netflix, the series’ cancellation has miffed fans. With season 2 leaving watchers with a lot of unanswered questions, here are some reactions to the cancellation:
What’s the point on getting invested with anything on Netflix?

Netflix cycle:
1. Approve only season 1
2. Show gains traction
3. Approve production on next season with hopeful release within 2 years
4. Production on season 2 starts
5. Hype for show dies down waiting for S2
6. S2 is released, fails to meet expectations
7. Show is canceled— Barik4Smash (@Barik4Smash) December 13, 2022
‘Warrior Nun’ was seemingly cancelled because the second season didn’t do as well as it was hoped to do. However, did the streamer too have a major role to play in this? A shared reason among fans regarding the axing was that while season 1 was received well, the streamer took too long to release season 2, leading to the hype regarding the series running out. And without the hype, the series will invariably end up clocking fewer viewing numbers during its first week and month, which reportedly play a huge role in the streamer’s decision regarding a title’s future.
Everything said and done, it seems ‘Warrior Nun’ will not have a third season, at least not on Netflix. It is to be seen if another streamer will find this an opportunity and take up the series for a new season. Well fans, it’s time to start moving on from Netflix’s comment section to that of its competing streamers.
