A glimpse of an upcoming Malayalam has been announced by producer Sophia Paul for the Weekend Blockbusters. The title is revealed to be ‘Detective Ujjwalan’ which is expected to be an Investigative comedy cum mystery drama. The movie is set out to be theatrically released in 2025.
‘Detective Ujjwalan’ will be featuring actor Dhyan Sreenivasan who is expected to play the titular character and this will its another instalment of the Weekend Cinematic Universe. The character is a mixture of a youth who emerges from failure, a geek but funny and purposefully curious. The glimpse cuts are brilliant and subtle.
The movie was written cum directed by the duo Indraneel Gopeekrishnan and Rahul G, the cinematography was handled by both Prem Akkattu and Sraiyanti, editing was done by Chaman Chakko, and music was composed by Rzee the rapper. The glimpse feels afresh and doesn’t look amateurish but novel. The storytelling will have a character-based narrative and is expected to fill with laughter and intrigue till its culmination.
The movie attempts to give references to previous popular characters like placing framed photographs of Scooby and Gang from the animated cartoon ‘Scooby-Doo’, CID Moosa (A character from a cult Malayalam movie), Bruce Wayne from The Batman series, CID Ramdas & CID Vijayan (Another cult character from ‘Nadodikaatu’, a Malayalam movie), Sherlock played by Benedict Cumberbatch and Sethuramayyar CBI from the popular Malayalam CBI movie series from where the character would imbibe the inspiration for investigation from.
The Weekend Cinematic Universe may also include the previously released ‘Minnal Murali’ and this is expected to have some surprise elements that make an extra taste for waiting the movie. However, the issue lies with Dhyan’s potential to perform as his previous filmography was dull and non-satisfactory. Hoping this one to become his arena to perform and grab the audience. Audiences are waiting for the upcoming Weekend Blockbusters movie ‘Kondal’ which is set to release on September 12. Stay tuned in Binged for more updates on ‘Detective Ujjwalan’.
