2021 has started on a great note for Indian cinema as most of the much awaited films are getting their release and will most likely release without further delay. One of the firsts was Vijay’s Master and it has turned to be one of the biggest blockbusters already. Well, now the news about Dhanush’s next “Jagame Thandhiram” is back again. The upcoming Tamil movie is till now slated to release on 12th of February, 2021 but the buzz of it releasing on OTT first, is coming back strong again.
The movie was supposed to release back in 2020, but got further delayed and was set for release in February, 2021. Also, after how Master turned out to be in the theatres, makers were ready for a theatrical release. They earlier mentioned in interviews that they won’t be going for any sort of OTT releases and was waiting for theatres to reopen, as they had plans strictly for theatrical release. Also, given the budget and a star like Dhanush starring in the movie, this most definitely looked like it is heading for the theatres.
As per the latest buzz, the makers of the movie are in talks with Netflix for the release of the movie through the OTT platform. It seems to be skipping the theatrical release for unknown reasons altogether and the movie will be coming as a direct-to-OTT release through Netflix. Well, the talk seems to be going on for this. What actually is going on with the movie? How will the movie release? Will the talks for the OTT release actually go forward? What has been the deal made for the release? Jagame Thandhiram has been carrying a decent pre-release hype due to the hero-director combo and expected to open well in theaters after the recent release Master.
