The Tamil language psychological horror thriller movie titled ‘Naane Varuvean’ starring Dhanush was released in theatres on 29th September, that is, one day before Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus ‘Ponniyin Selvan’. As you might already know, the post-theatrical digital streaming rights for ‘Naane Varuvean’ were bagged by Amazon Prime Video. And for those of you who had, for some reason, missed watching the film in theaters can now soon stream it on OTT. ‘Naane Varuvean’ will start streaming on the Amazon Prime Video OTT platform from 27th October onwards, as per the official announcement made today.
‘Naane Varuvean’ has been directed by actor-filmmaker Selvaraghavan and features his brother Dhanush in a double role. The talented duo has also jointly written the movie. The film is the third time Dhanush has played a dual role. The other two films were ‘Kodi’ (2016) and ‘Pattas’ (2020).
After its theatrical release, ‘Naane Varuvean’ was received well by the audiences. For instance, on the BookMyShow movie ticketing portal, the movie has received an impressive user rating of 8.2/10 based on more than 25k votes.
‘Naane Varuvean’ revolves around a regular, middle-class, happy-go-lucky family comprising Prabhu (Dhanush), Bhuvana (Indhuja), and their 12-year-old daughter Sathya. Trouble begins when the daughter begins to communicate with an imaginary character called Sonu and is possessed by the ghost of a little boy and later her health begins to suffer.
