Dhanush starrer ‘Naane Varuvean’ is all set to begin streaming on OTT sooner than expected. Most industry watchers expected the ‘Naane Varuvean’ OTT release date to be around 28th October. The film released in theatres on September 29. So, in keeping with the 28-days or 4-weeks norm, Naane Varuvean should have released on streaming on October 27 – 28.
However, looks like Naane Varuvean will premiere on OTT several days earlier, in time for the Diwali festival. By our understanding, Naane Varuvean should most likely begin streaming on Sunday, October 23, just a day before Diwali.
The post-theatrical streaming rights of Naane Varuvean have been bought by Amazon Prime Video. The film will therefore stream on Prime Video in India mostly from October 23. The overseas streaming rights of Naane Varuvean rest with Simply South, which will stream Naane Varuvean in markets outside India.
Naane Varuvean is a horror thriller film that stars Dhanush in a dual role. The story centres on a middle class man whose life is turned upside down when his daughter is possessed by the ghost of a little boy. Naane Varuvean is directed by Selvaraghavan. Though the film was appreciated by audiences, it suffered at the box office due to the popularity of monster hit, Ponniyin Selvan 1. Naane Varuvean released in theatres just a day before Ponniyin Selvan 1.
