Dhanush’s much-awaited new film ‘Vaathi’ has finally released in theatres today. The film, which saw multiple delays, has opened to mixed reviews from critics and audiences. Vaathi is a bilingual film, shot simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu. The film is titled ‘Vaathi’ in Tamil, and ‘Sir’ in Telugu.
Now that Vaathi has released in theatres across India, audiences are keen to know more about which streaming platform has grabbed the post-theatrical streaming rights for the film. Well, we at Binged, bring you confirmed information on the OTT platform that has bagged the streaming rights of Vaathi. It is none other than streaming giant, Netflix.
For those who don’t know, Vaathi is part of the mega 18-films bonanza of Tamil films whose streaming rights have been acquired by Netflix in India. The platform had announced the names of all 18 films in January, as part of a Pongal treat for its subscribers.
Vaathi will release on Netflix in all the four South languages of Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada, but not in Hindi. ‘Vaathi’ / ‘Sir’ is directed by noted director, Venky Atluri. It is produced by Sithara Entertainment and Fortune Four Cinemas.
Vaathi is a period coming-of-age action drama. The film stars Dhanush in the lead role, alongside Samyuktha Menon. P. Sai Kumar, Tanikella Bharani, Samuthirakani, Hyper Aadi, Aadukalam Naren, Ilavarasu, among others, make up the rest of the cast. G. V. Prakash Kumar has composed the music of ‘Vaathi’ / ‘Sir’.
