Karan Johar’s production house Dharma Productions have locked a content deal with Sikhya Entertainment, founded and managed by Guneet Monga Kapoor.
The two production houses will be combinedly producing feature films as well as digital releases. No project has been revealed so far but in two or three months, some titles will hopefully be announced.
Dharma Productions is one of the biggest names in terms of commercial and mainstream cinema in Bollywood. With films like ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, ‘My Name Is Khan’ and the recent ‘Brahmastra: Part One’, Dharma has offered some of the most popular and successful releases to the industry. Meanwhile, Guneet Monga and her production house is known for internationally acclaimed indie releases. The short film ‘Period: End Of Sentence’ got an Oscar in the documentary category and this year too, Kartika Gonsalves’ ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ won the Academy Award. With films like ‘Masaan’ or ‘The Lunchbox’, Sikhya Entertainment has made its name in various film festivals.
Sikhya and Dharma worked together for the first time during ‘The Lunchbox’. Dharma Productions distributed the film with UTV. This assimilation of a mainstream giant and an indie talent hub will be great for the future of content in India. Karan Johar has said, “We are extremely excited to collaborate with Sikhya Entertainment. As a filmmaker, I have always believed in the power of storytelling to inspire, entertain, and challenge audiences. With this alliance, we have the opportunity to bring together our shared passion for creating innovative content and telling stories that resonate with people from all walks of life. This partnership represents a unique blend of two brands that have always supported diverse and unconventional talent, and I can’t wait to see what we will create together.”
Guneet Monga too is excited for the partnership and looks forward to working together to create content that resonates with a wider audience.
