Did Amazon Prime Video Just Drop Malayalam Film Jo&Jo?

We are as surprised as you are. Amazon Prime Video just dropped Malayalam language comedy drama film ‘Jo&Jo’ to stream without any prior announcement or even a tweet, just like that today. This is quite unlikely considering the film is quite a darling amongst Malayalam speaking audience of Amazon Prime. Not many people could catch the film at the theatres due to limited release and weaker promotions despite good audience reception. Amazon Prime dropped ‘Araattu’ also similarly without any announcement, just like a hot cake.

If this move by Prime Video is calculated or a mistake? We do not know. But we do know some of these titles are much anticipated and they do deserve a heads up atleast. Nevertheless, we are as excited as you all are because Jo&Jo is one of the most anticipated Malayalam titles of 2022 so far. Amazon Prime Video finally has brought the film for many of us who missed the film at the movies.

The film follows the theme of fun tom and jerry-esque sibling rivalry. Add on to the mix covid-19 lockdown that held up the two-always-at-loggerheads brother-sister duo at home with no choice to make. To a large extent Jo&Jo revolves around the power struggle between Jomon (Mathew Thomas) and his sister Jomol (Nikhila Vimal). Jomol catches Jomon’s mischief’s and exposes them to their parents, creating a rift between them.

Directed by debutant Arun D Jose, Jo & Jo is co-produced by Imagine Cinemas and Signature Studios. The screenplay was penned by Arun along with Raveesh Nath. The film features Mathew Thomas, Nikhil Vimal, Naslen K Gafoor and Melvin G Babu in lead roles. Govind Vasantha composed the music for the film. Jo&Jo released theatrically on 13th May and was not only a commercial success, but also appreciated critically. What are you waiting for? Jo&Jo is a staple feel-good Malayalam film to make your weekend all happy go lucky!
