Similar to the life of Ashwatthama, “Kalki’s” box office is showing no signs of slowing down. To rejuvenate sales, the makers planned to reduce ticket prices to ₹100, which worked wonders.
On Sunday alone, “Kalki” sold around 10,000 tickets, but it’s important to note that the number could have been higher.
Audiences are revisiting the film, but the problem lies in the fact that not everyone can get the ₹100 tickets.
Despite advertising it this way, the majority of theaters were deprived of this benefit. We did some digging, and most theaters in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and other big cities did not offer the discount.
Though some theaters followed this pricing, a few theaters in Mumbai offered tickets at ₹99 and ₹112, but that was a rare occasion. Even a theater chain like PVR INOX is not opting for this scheme in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities, which is a big disappointment for fans.
Events like these will definitely harm the faith of fans as well. But who is to blame?
It’s something we’re unclear about.
Some theaters are offering the discount in 2D, while others are not aware of it at all. Blaming the makers would be overdoing it, as they have been publicly announcing the offer and are well aware that not delivering on it would destroy their credibility.
Plus, movie theaters can do anything to increase their profit margins by any means. Most audiences are unaware of this fact, that’s for sure.
