Zee5 was doing really well for the past few months. The Kashmir Files, RRR, and Valimai helped gain the platform immense buzz and a lot of new subscribers.
Even their originals like The Broken News, and Forensic gained good views if we see what Zee5 usually gets.
But after a series of buzzy blockbusters, Zee5 acquired the streaming rights of Dhaakad and they must be regretting it. We all know that the film is one of the biggest disasters of all time and the pathetic theatrical performance will remain a benchmark which no film would want to touch.
But consider the case of Anek.
Binged reported that even after a pathetic theatrical response, the Ayushmaan Khurrana starrer is getting appreciated on Netflix.
Sad for Zee5, Dhaakad is nothing less than a fiasco even on OTT. There is absolutely zero buzzes for the film and no one is bothering to participate in the streaming report posts on social media handles.
Of course, some people watched the film but the reviews they are pouring in are another example of how terribly people discarded Dhaakad.
The bottom line is, that streaming platforms finalise film deals even before a film is made. We saw that in many cases particularly in the brotherhood of Prime Video and Yash Raj Films. A lot of times, films like Jayeshbhai Jordaar or something else come as an expensive poison pill which doesn’t bring views and help in anything except piling up losses.
This time, Dhaakad has proven to be exactly that for Zee5.
