Let’s address the negatives first. Madame Web – we’ve discussed the film and its shortcomings extensively. Despite its flaws, the significant coverage it’s receiving on most entertainment portals indicates that Marvel is still the talk of the town.
While Sony’s Marvel division took a hit with critics, the Disney side of things appears more promising than ever.
The excitement began with the release of Deadpool’s trailer during the Super Bowl. There’s always something big in store during the Super Bowl, and Deadpool might just shatter numerous records, especially regarding the highest-grossing R-rated films. Joker is undoubtedly in for some competition. The Deadpool franchise is already performing exceptionally well at the box office.
Adding to the excitement is the return of one of the most beloved characters in comic book movies: Wolverine. Bringing Deadpool into the main timeline is a wise decision; his wit will undoubtedly be a valuable addition.
Deadpool has a unique ability to attract audiences of all ages, setting the stage for another box office hit. But the excitement doesn’t stop there.
Marvel also unveiled the cast for their highly anticipated Fantastic Four film, sparking widespread enthusiasm. Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach are dominating discussions, especially considering the announcement coincided with Valentine’s Day.
Set in the 1960s, it’s unclear whether Marvel plans to delve into an origin story or something that requires prior knowledge. Regardless, the hype is palpable, particularly with Pascal’s involvement in Fantastic Four. It’s worth noting that he joins an exclusive group of actors who have appeared in DC, MCU, and Star Wars films.
And then there’s X-Men 97, the animated series from Disney and Marvel. The trailer pays homage to the classic 1992-1997 series, capturing its essence from the outset.
As Charles Xavier bids farewell to his X-Men, the team undergoes a shift in dynamics under Magneto’s leadership. The trailer looks incredibly promising, continuing the legacy of the original timeline.
The future looks bright for Marvel, particularly on the Disney front. They’ve certainly delivered an exceptional week in the world of comic book movies, at least for now. While DC focuses on rejuvenation, Marvel is wrapping up the battle in style.
