Zack Snyder’s ambitious sci-fi film ‘Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire’ started streaming in India on the Netflix OTT platform, from yesterday. But the eagerly anticipated movie turned out to be a damp squib as far as critics’ feedback is concerned. The film has received an abysmally low critics’ score of just 22% on reviews aggregation portal Rotten Tomatoes.
Although some films directed by Zack Snyder have not received very good RT scores, some of them were appreciated by critics and audiences. Do you know which Zack Snyder movie has got the highest critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes? Is it the visually arresting actioner ‘300’, or the Henry Cavill starrer superman-based movie ‘Man of Steel’, or the understated superhero flick ‘Watchmen’?
You’ll be surprised to know that none of the above-mentioned movies is Zack Snyder’s highest rated movie (on Rotten Tomatoes). In fact, the Zack Snyder film which has received the maximum RT critics’ score is the relatively underappreciated zombie horror flick – ‘Dawn of the Dead’, which came out back in the year 2004. Incidentally, it was also Zack Snyder’s feature film directorial debut.
A remake of George Romero’s 1978 movie of the same name, ‘Dawn of the Dead’ revolves around a group of people trapped in a shopping mall who desperately try to survive hordes of flesh-eating zombies while trapped inside a shopping mall. After Danny Boyle’s highly rated film ‘28 Days Later’, it was this Zack Snyder movie which gave the zombie-genre a fresh lease of life and it was soon followed by a sudden wave of zombie films.
‘Dawn of the Dead’ received a 76% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes and the audience score is a bit higher at 77%. It’s the highest RT critics’ score for a Zack Snyder film. In case you haven’t watched the movie yet, then we recommend you stream it on the Jio Cinema OTT platform.
