Disney appears supremely confident in its Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians, having officially confirmed the development of Season 3.
According to Nexus Point News, casting for Percy Jackson Season 3 is already underway, with filming scheduled to begin this July in Vancouver, Canada.
This marks a shift in the production schedule for the acclaimed fantasy series. Unlike Season 2, which began filming about six months after the first season concluded, the new approach targets a quicker turnaround.
The accelerated timeline likely results from the young lead actors – Walker Scobell, Leah Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri – growing older. By reducing the gap between seasons, the show can avoid the “aging-out” issue that affected shows like Netflix’s Stranger Things, where child characters began to look significantly older than their on-screen roles.
Thanks to Rick Riordan’s strong creative control over the series, Percy Jackson has resonated well with the franchise’s fan base. Riordan, the author of the original novels, plays an active role in the show’s development.
Despite some minor issues, the series has received a strong reception, earning a ‘fresh’ score of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes and a Metacritic score of 73. These impressive ratings likely played a key role in Disney’s decision to greenlight Season 3.
While no official release date has been announced, Percy Jackson Season 3 is expected to premiere on Disney+ sometime in November or December 2025. Stay tuned for more updates.
