Sports is the new hit thing on OTT, and now, most OTT platforms want a piece of that. From flashy deals to astounding advertisements, sports streaming is indeed booming. And amidst all the hype, a new alliance is forming which might change the demography really soon.
So, three giant studios and practically entertainment giants are partnering to launch a new sports venture. That too in this fall.
The new venture will provide a new roof for all three of their services; all of your sports streaming necessities will be taken care of under the same label. Content from ESPN, TNT, and Fox Sports will be featured here, and it will not only sustain the OTT content but also live television content as well.
In terms of getting access to linear cable, the users will get the benefits of ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SECN, ACCN, ESPNEWS, ABC, Fox, FS1, FS2, BTN, TNT, TBS, truTV, and ESPN+. Along with these, there will be content from NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB.
The pricing is still not been announced, but as viewers, you can be sure that they won’t opt for some cheaper price tag.
The new joint venture involving Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery is set to be established and certain. The entity will not produce its own content or compete with its parent companies for rights deals.
Disney is exploring options for ESPN’s future, including potential involvement with sports leagues like the NFL. Fox, previously hesitant to stream sports content, plans to keep live sports off its Tubi platform, according to Murdoch.
Amidst all these waves, Netflix also enters as the big threat. Besides planning to launch their own events and tournaments, they just acquired the rights to stream WWE which comes out as one of the biggest deals in terms of potential. And all the other events following up to that might be a panic move for Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros, but that might just be speculation.
