Nemesis, touted as an eight episode psychological police procedural thriller series based on the best-selling novel by Simon de Waal is greenlit by Disney+. The show is also first dutch drama series under Disney+.
The Nemesis series is centred around Public Prosecutor Sylvia van Maele who is on a mission to find out the murderer of a key-witness at her place of residence. As the investigation delves deeper, Maele finds herself joining hands with a group of rogue detectives as they capture international criminals who have evaded the limits of law. How Sylvia van Maele unravels the can of worms behind the crime forms the crux of the series.
The story’s original writer, de Waal, is renowned for his fascinating stories that also come from his experiences as a homicide detective. The award winning author is most revered for his work in film Leak (2000) and novel Pentito (2007). His expertise in police procedurals has seen him contributing to almost every police series in Netherlands.
Disney+ has been intending to curate up to 60 international original productions by 2024 and Nemesis arrives to Disney+ as part this umbrella project. Disney+ also has a bunch of Korean shows like Casino also under this project. The show is expected to release worldwide (that also counts Disney+Hotstar in India) in 2023.
