September is here, and August has gone by in a flash. We at Binged are back with our report card on the performance of streaming giant Disney Plus Hotstar for the month of August. And guess what, August proved to be quite a good month for the streaming giant, which is currently going through an existential crisis of sorts.
Most of the titles that Disney Plus Hotstar premiered on its platform this month attracted sizeable audiences. Disney Plus Hotstar’s performance in August is certainly encouraging for its future course.

Indian Original Web Series –
Disney Plus Hotstar released not one, not two but an impressive four Indian Original series, in myriad languages. Disney Plus Hotstar began the month with the Telugu series ‘Dayaa’. It was a spectacular return by Satya actor J. D. Chakravarthy. The series got rave reviews from audiences and critics. Since Dayaa released in multiple Indian languages, it was enjoyed not just by Telugu viewers, but also by other language viewers.
Vipul Shah’s ‘Commando’ series came and went without much noise. It was mostly watched by die-hard fans of the Commando film series, but even they didn’t enjoy it much. Tamil series Mathagam got good reviews as well, while Tamannaah Bhatia starrer Aakhri Sach was a reasonable hit for the platform too.
Licensed Films –
Disney Plus Hotstar premiered three licensed titles this month, out of which Malayalam film Neymar proved to be a blockbuster hit for the platform.
Specials –
Disney Plus Hotstar live-streamed the historic Chandrayaan 3 Lunar Landing, with special guests from the astronomy world giving their inputs. The live got not-so-great views, coz most people tuned into ISRO’s YouTube channel to watch the Moon landing live.

As per the above, the score for Disney Plus Hotstar in August is 6/9, which gives it a success score of 66.66% for the month of August – which is quite good.
