Disney+ Hotstar is constantly upping its game with some much-needed content. Disney+ Hotstar has created stories and web series from some of the most unconventional stories that need to be heard. Disney+ Hotstar is doing its job perfectly well in acquiring rights and bringing in more talent and also not to mention exploring new domains. Speaking of domains, Disney+ Hotstar just dropped a first look teaser look of its next and it is nothing but marvelous.
Titled “The Empire ”, Disney+ Hotstar just dropped a first look teaser for its upcoming magnum opus, and let us tell you it looks amazing and grand all at the same time. The upcoming series is being described by the streamer as “India’s First-Ever Digital Magnum Opus” and from the looks of it, we can definitely believe that it’s nothing less than a magnum opus. As for the show, it is being helmed by the talented Nikhil Advani.
Earlier, there was news that Nikhil Advani was busy creating a series that is titled “Moghuls”, well now it looks like the series has got its new name. The series is based on Alex Rutherford’s six-part historical novel titled “Empire Of The Moghul”. The series will show the rise and fall of the Mughal Empire. It will start from the reign of Babur and with the empire raised by Aurangzeb.
As for the cast, there are no official announcements as of now, but the rumors have been strong that Ronit Roy, Drashti Dhami, Dino Morea, Shabana Azmi, and many more are on board for this mega project. The news was also there that Dia Mirza was onboard for a very crucial role, but later due to various reasons she dropped out and was replaced by Drashti Dhami. The cast announcements for the series will soon be made by the streamer.
The show is supposed to follow the Mughal Empire’s journey from Kabul to India, and how the empire survived for years. Infused with the Mughal policies and politics, the show will explore every bit of it. The show is high on VFX, which is pretty much understandable when the Disney+ Hotstar mentioned it as a “Digital Magnum Opus”. The show will be produced under Nikhil Advani’s banner Emmay Entertainment and is written by Bhavani Iyer. The dialogues have been penned by Kausar Munir.
Apparently, the series’ first season will be focusing on Babur and how began his reign. Interestingly, with the release of the first look, many are comparing the show to Game Of Thrones and have been already naming it as the “Indian GoT”
