Globally renowned movies database entertainment portal IMDb houses a list/widget of the most anticipated new Indian movies and shows (both theatrical and OTT) that ascertains the real-time popularity of that title. This is determined by the number of pageviews these titles are generating on IMDb. Each title is then ranked by IMDb as per the aggregate number of pageviews.
The topmost spot on the IMDb list has been bagged by Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film ‘Dunki’ which has been directed by the supremely talented filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani. The movie’s story ostensibly revolves around a backdoor immigration route known as Donkey Fight, which is used by some people to settle in some foreign countries.
On the second spot of the IMDb list is the third instalment of YRF’s Tiger film series ‘Tiger 3’ starring Salman Khan as the daredevil spy. It has been directed by the immensely talented filmmaker Maneesh Sharma and also features a cameo by Shah Rukh Khan. The film’s story is about how the daredevil protagonist Tiger is wrongfully accused as a traitor and makes it his mission to clear his name.
Other than these big-screen releases, a direct-to-OTT film which has impressed a lot this time on the IMDb list is the Disney+ Hotstar thriller movie ‘Apurva’ starring Tara Sutaria in the lead role. The film’s plot revolves around the titular protagonist, who is kidnapped by a group of hardened criminals and transforms into a strong woman who fights back bravely. The OTT title has even outranked big-ticket theatrical releases like ‘Salaar’ and ‘Animal’ on the IMDb list.
Besides ‘Apurva’, one more OTT title has also made it to the IMDb top ten list. It’s the highly anticipated Netflix series ‘The Railway Men’, which is set against the backdrop of the 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy.
