Pretty much every MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) Phase 4 Project, especially starting from ‘The Falcon And The Winter Soldier‘, has had a multi-lingual release in India. While English and Hindi are the standard languages these shows are supposed to be available in, Disney+ Hotstar has also targetted the Telugu and Tamil audiences by releasing these projects in the aforementioned languages. Now, it seems that when ‘Black Widow’ will releases in India next month, the film will not only be available in English, Hindi, Telugu and Tamil – the streaming platform has made the action spy superhero thriller available in Malayalam and Kannada as well.
With this, ‘Black Widow‘ will become the most accessible Marvel Phase 4 project within India. It is also the first MCU Phase 4 project to be available in the main 4 South Indian languages. Disney+ Hotstar has been listening to the complaints/ suggestions they have been receiving on social media over the last year and has done well to make content available for Indians in their preferred language.
So far, Amazon Prime Video is the only other major OTT conglomerate that has made Malayalam and Kannada audios available for content viewing, but they have restricted that to South Indian releases or popular Bollywood releases. Malayalam and Kannada audio for recent Hollywood releases are pretty much non-existent. The fact that Disney+ Hotstar has found this issue and rectified it means that the streaming platform is targeting the South Indian audiences differently to Netflix or Amazon Prime Video – not by providing quality regional content, but by providing regional translations to their quality International content.
‘Black Widow’ will premiere on September 3rd 2021 on Disney+ Hotstar. The film will be available for streaming in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada audios in India.
