We had earlier reported that Disney+ Hotstar was lagging behind its competitors regarding releases for the Ganesh Chaturthi weekend. All streaming platforms have some hugely anticipated, star-studded releases lined up for the festive season, with the exception of Disney+Hotstar. While streaming giant Netflix has Vijay Sethupathi’s ‘Tughlaq Durbar’ and the much-awaited final season of international show ‘Lucifer’, Amazon Prime Video has ‘Tuck Jagadish’ and the new web show, ‘Mumbai Diaries 26/11’, headlined by Mohit Raina and Konkona Sen Sharma. On the other hand, Zee5’s impressive line-up includes Telugu suspense thriller ‘NET’, Santhanam’s Tamil movie ‘Dikkiloona’ and the Jassie Gill-Surbhi Jyoti rom-com ‘Kya Meri Sonam Gupta Bewafa Hai’.
The past week saw two big Telugu releases, Nithiin’s ‘Maestro’ and the Naga Chaitanya-Sai Pallavi starrer ‘Love Story’, reschedule their release dates to make way for Nani’s ‘Tuck Jagadish’ releasing on Amazon Prime Video on the 10th of September. Although a clever move to avoid a clash, Disney+Hotstar in the bargain, was left with no release for the festive weekend by letting go of ‘Maestro’.
Although they have now more than made up for the loss, with a string of releases for 17th September weekend. Check them out!
