Just a few days back, streaming platform Disney+ Hotstar unveiled the first look teaser for its upcoming series ‘Showtime’. As the name suggests, the show’s story revolves around the multi-million-dollar Bollywood film industry, which has previously been the center of countless debates pertaining to nepotism and power struggles within the glamorous and cutthroat industry.
As per the latest update, ‘Showtime’ series is set to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on 15th March 2024. Interestingly, the show has been produced by popular Indian filmmaker Karan Johar, an industry insider himself. So, fans will be curious to know what’s his take on the sensitive and much talked about subject and what happens behind the curtains in Bollywood.
Disney+ Hotstar’s ‘Showtime’ series boasts of a talented cast. The show features Emraan Hashmi as an established Bollywood superstar and the underrated ‘Aamir’ actor Rajeev Khandelwal will be seen in the role of an outsider, who apparently wants to make it big in Bollywood.
Besides Emraan Hashmi and Rajeev Khandelwal, ‘Showtime’ also features Naseeruddin Shah, Vijay Raaz, Mouni Roy, Mahima Makwana, and Shriya Saran in important roles.
‘Showtime’ should be an entertaining watch for lovers of Indian cinema, and we just hope that the show will give the audiences a worthwhile sneak-peek into the inner workings of the Hindi film industry and the longstanding inside vs outsider debate rather than just showcasing the tip of the iceberg.
Also, Disney+ Hotstar’s ‘Showtime’ will be Emran Hashmi’s second web series after the 2019 spy thriller series ‘Bard of Blood’, which perhaps failed to live up to the expectations of the audience despite an intriguing premise and slick production values. ‘Showtime’ will be directed by Mihir Desai and Archit Kumar.
