Nowadays adapting novels to create live action movies and television shows has become a trend. With the blockbuster success garnered by Sacred Games globally, which itself was adapted from the novel of the same name by Vikram Chandra, it has given the idea to many makers to adapt from a best seller book. Now, It seems that another book is all set to become a web television series.
Online publication ‘Peeping Moon’ broke the news that Vikas Swarup’s novel “Six Suspects” is being geared up for a web series on Disney+ Hotstar. The web series is currently in the developing stage with the crew and will be going on floors next year. The show is being produced by Priti Sinha and Namrata Sinha under Reel Life Entertainment.
Now, Gangs of Wasseypur fame Tigmanshu Dhulia will be seen helming the show as the director. This will be his third outing with Disney+ Hotstar after Out Of Love and Criminal Justice.
The plot of the show looks interesting as the book by Vikas Swarup itself has been a hit. The story revolves around the city of Delhi and follows a playboy son of the Home Minister. He gets murdered in his own party, and this means that one of the guests of the party must have done it. The Police arrives at the scene and separate six guests all of them carrying guns with them and everyone of them having a motive to kill.
The suspects vary in their personalities and seemingly are different from each other. Since it’s a web series, it will follow the backstory of each of these suspects showing all of their interactions with the Minister’s son and how they got involved with him and developed the motive to kill.
The plot looks interesting and why not, Six Suspects initially was to be adapted for a Hollywood feature film but didn’t pan out. It seems that Disney+ Hotstar will be very careful with their particular outing as the source promises to be a fantastic one and they would certainly like to convert the book’s success into the show.
Vikas Swarup’s another novel Q&A was adapted as Slumdog Millionaire which went on win 8 Academy Awards. Hence the excitement for his next is high.
Apart from Tigmanshu Dhulia, no other cast members have been finalized as the makers are currently going through casting process informs Peeping Moon.
