Disney Plus Hotstar has just dropped the trailer for its upcoming Hindi series, ‘Aar Ya Paar’. The platform has also revealed the release date for the new show. All episodes of ‘Aar Ya Paar’ premiere on Disney Plus Hotstar on December 30.
Going by the trailer of ‘Aar Ya Paar’, the show promises to be an intriguing watch, with a decidedly different narrative than what Hindi OTT shows have been offering since long. The primary plot of ‘Aar Ya Paar’ centers on the conflict of modernity vs the preservation of the natural climes of our planet. Much like the animated film ‘Rio 2’, a greedy corporate honcho has his eyes on acquiring a verdant, pristine island for the sake of the precious resource within its land – uranium. The catch is that the island is the centuries-old habitat of a tribal people, who will certainly not give up their home for the sake of anything.
Thus begins all out war – ‘Aar Ya Paar’ between the two sides. The series is from the tried and tested team of director Sidharth Sengupta and writer/actor Varun Badola (Apharan, Undekhi, Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein). It boasts a terrific ensemble cast – Aditya Rawal as a member of the tribe; Ashish Vidyarthi as the profit-hungry corporate honcho; Sumeet Vyas in the negative role of a drunk-on-power police officer who’ll stop at nothing to usurp the tribals from their land; Dibyendu Bhattacharya, who lends support to the tribals; and Patralekhaa as a doctor who is sensitive to the needs of the tribe. Shilpa Shukla, Aasif Sheikh, Nakul Sahaldev, Vaarun Bhagat, make up the rest of the cast.
