Disney Plus Hotstar has revealed the trailer and release date for its upcoming K-drama ‘Vigilante’. The action thriller series will premiere on Disney Plus and Disney Plus Hotstar on 8th November, 2023, which is next Wednesday. ‘Vigilante’ was part of the 20+ titles in its Korean and Japanese slate, announced by Disney Plus back in July 2023.
As the title of the series suggests, ‘Vigilante’ centres on a mysterious, hooded man who is killing off criminals, rogues and murderers, delivering justice to all those whom society and law have failed to deliver justice to. Vigilante is adapted from the webtoon of the same name, created by Kim Gyu-sam. The series stars Nam Joo-hyuk, Yoo Ji-tae, Lee Joon-hyuk, and Kim So-jin in pivotal roles.
As a child, Kim Ji-Yong (Nam Joo-Hyuk) had witnessed the brutal killing of his mother at the hands of a local criminal. Shockingly, the murderer was let go after only a 3-year prison term. Now grown up, Kim lives a dual life – a model student at the police academy by day; and a vigilante by night, bumping off the scum of society.
Going by the first look, teaser and art work of Vigilante, the series promises to be another winner for Disney Plus, in the K-Drama category. The streamer already has two big K-Drama hits this year, in the form of ‘Moving’ and ‘ The Worst Of Evil’. Disney Plus suffered hiccups and a slow start with K-Dramas in its initial phase, with duds in India like Snowdrop and Soundtrack.
But all that seems like a thing of the past. In recent years, K-Dramas on Disney Plus Hotstar have enjoyed success and viewership, with Shadow Detective, Moving and The Worst Of Evil becoming massive hits. Vigilante seems to be on track to be the next Korean drama hit for Disney Plus.
Vigilante premieres on Disney Plus and Disney Plus Hotstar on 8th November, 2023. Have a look at the teaser-trailer for the show –
