SVOD (Subscription Video On Demand) is an online video streaming service where one pays a specific amount to avail a smooth video watching experience with exclusive content range. But what if these paid subscription comes with hindrances while you catch up on your favourite show or movie?
Well that’s the case with Disney+ Hotstar VIP subscription pack where advertisements spoil the fun even after having already paid for it. These ads come up on Star Serials, Movies, LIVE Sports and News while it’s only the Hotstar Specials that remain ad-free under the VIP package.
According to Disney+Hotstar, if you want an ad-free experience on movies and shows, you might have to get Disney+Hotstar Premium subscription. Though the live sports and news will have ads there too, but given the nature of such live features, ads are sort of inevitable.
What’s concerning is the VIP pack which somewhat nullifies the basic rule of subscription based video streaming services. It seems totally unnecessary to have to wait for the ad to end or to click the skip ad icon, when one has already paid for the service.
Compared to other streaming services that run on the same SVOD model, ads popping up in between shows or movies are a strict no-no and that’s what enhances the viewing experience.
Currently, Disney+Hotstar VIP is priced at ₹399/year and Disney+ Hotstar Premium at ₹1499/year or ₹299/month. The VIP pack is definitely much affordable than most other subscription options available in the market but that’s also the reason for the ad-filled service.
