Korean thrillers have made a name in the international market and with strong movies and shows, the Korean industry is now booming more than ever. Now, we will be getting a Korean espionage series from Disney+ soon.
The show has been titled ‘Tempest’ and it is slated for release in 2025. ‘Tempest’ will be a spy thriller high on action and will be directed by Kim Heewon. Kim Heewon is known for previously directing popular projects like ‘Little Women’ and ‘Vincenzo’. Top martial arts director Heo Myunghaeng will be co-directing the show with Heewon.
The show will be set in contemporary South Korea. It stars popular actors like Gianna Jun and Gang Dong-won. Gianna Jun will be playing an ambassador to the US and Gang plays a special agent and hitman. The two meet each other during a mission of each and soon find out that they have a common purpose to save the Korean peninsula from a massive attack from unknown enemies.
The script of the show is written by Chung Seokyung. Seokyung has previously worked with critically acclaimed director Park Chan-Wook and wrote films like ‘Decision To Leave’, ‘The handmaiden’ etc. He has also worked with Heewon in ‘Little Women’.
The release date and other details have not been revealed yet and hopefully we will get more information soon.
